| What is included in our On Hire Briefings? |
|
In order to improve the flow of information between the Vessel, Client and Peterson SBS, and to ensure continuity in the quality of that information, it was necessary to carry out a full re-write of the on hire briefing document and it is worthwhile going over the main elements of the briefing here. It should be noted that this briefing document is used for vessels coming on charter to our clients and it is updated on an as required basis as revised information is received from our clients. The briefing document consists of 10 sections covering the following:
Section 2 [General Safety] highlights the ‘Stop the job and find a Safer Solution’ policy that we work to, it also covers issues such as Safety Bulletins from the Marine Safety Forum [hyperlink to their website included in the document], Adverse Weather procedures and Passenger Transfers. A number of Oil & Gas and NWEA guidelines are included in the upload. Section 3 [Quayside Operations] is concerned with Pre Loadout Meetings, Cargo Loading and Sailing Instructions issued to all vessels loaded by us. Section 4 [Dangerous Goods & Bulk Cargo] ensures that all vessel masters are aware of the regulations covering the carriage and handling of such cargo. Section 5 [Incident Reporting] simply details the steps to be taken in the event of an incident occurring during loading in port or whilst working alongside an installation, these do not interfere with a Client’s own procedures, they only detail contact numbers etc to which reports should be submitted. Section 6 [Anchor Handling Tugs] brings attention to the various bulletins and guidelines issued in response to the Bourbon Dolphin disaster and copies of these are included in the upload. Section 7 [Company / Installation Information] shows where to find installation data cards or company specific information relevant to those installations to be visited during the charter period. Section 8 [Voyage Reports / Tank Plans] ensures that the master is aware of the various reports to be completed and where they should be sent. Section 9 [Communications] gives a list of phone numbers and email addresses to be used when communicating with Peterson SBS or Aberdeen Harbour. Section 10 [HM Revenue & Customs] ensures that the most up to date versions of HMRC documents are included in the upload and that the master is aware of reporting procedures that are in place. |
